FAQ

Certification verification FAQ

Why is real-time certification verification important?
Supplier certifications expire. An AS9100 certificate valid when you approved a supplier may have lapsed three months later. Many supplier databases only update certification data monthly or quarterly — meaning you could be relying on a certificate that has been suspended or expired for weeks without knowing. Mercata checks certification status against official registrar feeds at query time, so the status you see is current.
Which official registries does Mercata check for ISO certifications?
For ISO 9001 and ISO 13485, Mercata checks accreditation body registries from BSI, SGS, TÜV SÜD, TÜV Rheinland, Bureau Veritas, Dekra, Lloyd's Register, DNV, and other IAF-accredited certification bodies. For AS9100, Mercata checks IAQG OASIS. For IATF 16949, Mercata checks the IATF's global certification database. All checks return the certificate number, scope, issuing body, and expiry date.
Can Mercata alert me when a supplier's certification is about to expire?
Yes. Mercata's risk monitoring feature sends automatic alerts when a saved supplier's certification is approaching expiry (30-day and 7-day warnings by default, configurable) or when a certificate has lapsed. This is available on the Pro and Enterprise plans and covers all certifications in your approved supplier base.
